Randolph, n.J., man sentenced to 78 months in prison for possession of child pornography

NEWARK, N.J. – Peter Dafferner, 67, of Randolph, N.J., was sentenced today to 78 months in prison for possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Dafferner previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton to an Indictment charging him with one count of possession of child pornography. Judge Wigenton imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:
Dafferner possessed more than 600 images of child pornography on a computer located in his residence in September 2009. Dafferner acknowledged that among the images of child pornography that he possessed were images that depicted minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct with other minors and adults, as well as in sadistic and masochistic conduct.
As part of his guilty plea, Dafferner agreed to forfeit computers and computer accessories which he used to commit the offense.
In addition to the prison term, Judge Wigenton sentenced Dafferner to five years of supervised release and a $1,250 fine.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael B. Ward in Newark, with the investigation leading to today’s sentence.
